Tea & Sex is a monthly event that explores a variety of topics related to human sexuality. This month, sex educator Marla Stewart of Velvet Lips presents on being kinky in color.
Being kinky and being a person of color is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to navigating your identity. In this presentation, we will discuss the history of kink when it comes to people of color and compare that to the current state of sexual liberation, as it pertains to people of color who are involved in kink. We will discuss the multiplicity of identities, as it relates to intersectionality, as well as behaviors and experiences that are particular to certain types of kinky folks of color. Come learn about racial dynamics in dungeons, master/slave dynamics for people of color, white privilege in dungeons, and more.
Marla Renee Stewart, MA is a Lecturer at Clayton State University and runs her own sexuality education company, Velvet Lips.
