How To Talk To Your Kids About Porn

November 10, 2018

02:00 PM to 04:00 PM

Not that long ago, a teen who wanted porn would have to sneak a Playboy from an adult relative, or maybe borrow a video from a friend who somehow had an adult film in their possession. However, the rise of the internet changed this completely, and teens now have easy access to online porn. With pornography so easily accessible, it’s important for parents to know how to address the topic of porn with their kids as part of the larger conversation about sex. When the “just don’t do it” approach is all but guaranteed to fail, how should porn be discussed? When should it be brought up in the first place? How can a parent talk about porn with their teen or preteen in a sex-positive, non-shaming way that will set them up for a healthy and satisfying sex life and healthy sexual attitudes in the future? Whether you have children or are simply interested in how we as a society can discuss porn in an honest and healthy way, come to WEAM for a panel discussion featuring a sexologist, a child development specialist, and porn performers to learn ways to approach the topic of pornography.

$10 in advance, $20 at the door. Includes museum admission.
